McLaren (1953-2023) was a Canadian
filmmaker and educator based in New York City.
He co-founded the Toronto Super 8 Film Festival
(1976-1983), the first in Canada, and the
Canadian Super 8 Distribution Centre (1976/77),
and he co-founded and was the first director of
The Funnel Experimental Film Theatre in Toronto
(1977-1987). He also taught filmmaking at the
Ontario College of Art in Toronto, 1977-1990.
